Ruby Slippers introduces a stunning new range of accessible kitchens to Scotland

Ruby Slippers Solutions Ltd, the ageing-in-place specialists, today (17 April 2011) announced an agreement with the luxury kitchen design specialists, Design Matters, that will ensure disabled people in Scotland have a real choice when it comes to designing stylish, fully accessible kitchens.

Access Matters is Design Matter’s stunning range of bespoke kitchen cabinetry created for people with accessibility issues. The range is designed by Adam Thomas, who is himself a wheelchair user, and thoughtfully combines the stylish finish for which Design Matters has built its reputation and the practical functionality that is so essential to a fully accessible kitchen.

The kitchens are designed to suit every price point, offering a choice of laminates in 40 different colours and a variety of solid wooden doors.  It incorporates all the latest accessible design appliances that Ruby Slippers recommends, including automated rise-and-fall worksurfaces; ovens with slide-away doors; remote controlled extractor fans; single lever taps; fully flush induction hobs.

Ruby Slippers recently installed an Access Matters kitchen for a wheelchair user and her husband in Livingston. They wanted a contemporary design to suit the new extension they were creating and were absolutely delighted by the result:

“For the first time in a long while, we have been able to bring the whole family together, sharing and enjoying the cooking,” explained Meera.

“It's easy to forget the all-too-important details when you embark on a large project like this. Ruby Slippers covered everything with a clear explanation of the functionality we could expect and a detailed vision of how our home would look. We were guided tactfully through the daunting process of designing layouts, choosing colour schemes and materials and picking out the right units and appliances."
