No compromising on this
wheelchair-friendly kitchen!
When Meera and Donald were planning their new groundfloor living space, they asked us for an accessible design that would provide all the features that make such a difference to a wheelchair user but that wouldn't spoil the look of their great new extension.
The result - a stunning, contemporary, fully accessible kitchen from Access Matters that Meera can use and her family can also enjoy.
Meera's new kitchen

The original kitchen
At the heart of the kitchen is a beautiful, automated rise and fall worksurface - finished in Corian - supporting a flush induction hob and sink with a pull-out hose. The Neff appliance range includes an oven with a slideaway door for easy access and below this, and the integrated microwave, are clever heat-resistant, pull out drawers to provide additional preparation space and a place to rest heavy oven dishes. The adjacencies of all the cupboards are thoroughly considered - for example, the dishwasher is next to both the sink and the cutlery and plates storage.
Watch out for Phase 2 of the extension later this year including beautiful new master bedroom with luxurious ensuite dressing room and wetroom.
"It's easy to forget details when you are embarking on a large project like this.
Ruby Slippers covered everything with a clear explanation of the functionality we could expect and a detailed vision of how our home would look.
Lisa guided us tactfully through the daunting process of designing layouts and choosing colour schemes, materials, units and appliances." (Meera from Livingston, West Lothian)
